Michelle's background is across a combination of communications, marketing, and design. She is creative, curious and compassionate, and loves practising and sharing human-centred design methodologies to create awesome customer experiences.
Jake Dutton, Senior Service Designer at Telstra
Jake is about translating innovative technology into meaningful experiences. Putting customers at the heart of what he does, Jake is passionate about solving real problems for real humans as humans. Jake currently works at Telstra in a team of human-centred forward-thinking and strategic rockstars. Focusing on needs and behaviours, he designs products, services and experiences that excite and transform the way customers experience Telstra. An always learner, Jake is a great example of Service Design maturity.
Justin Thiang, Logan City Council, City Innovation Lead
Justin’s Industrial Design experience ranges from startups to international organisations focusing on human-centred design, sustainability and economic growth. Justin is passionate about user empathy, identifying cross-functional teams and applying the design process from concept through to delivery. Justin is currently an Innovation Ecosystem Builder in the City of Logan. He demonstrates how design leadership can empower and connect people resulting in effective collaboration.
Elizabeth Emery, Super Retail Group, Omni Strategy & Innovation Manager
With a passion for creating meaningful customer experiences that transcend digital and physical worlds, Elizabeth utilizes human-centred design techniques and harnesses the power of collaboration to deliver innovative solutions for iconic Aussie brands Supercheap Auto, rebel and BCF in their journey towards becoming a world-class omnichannel retailer. Liz is a vivid example of Digital human-centred design maturity.

Nate Sturcke is passionate educator and supporter of the local Perth innovation ecosystem. Over the last 5 years, Nate has worked with over 4,000 entrepreneurs through a variety of programs, including the Silicon-Valley based Founder Institute accelerator; Google-backed Startup Weekend; and RAC SeedSpark seed fund. In both 2017 and 2018, Nate was awarded the WA Startup Community award for his role in promoting early-stage entrepreneurship throughout the state.
Ale, Founder and Chief Empathy Officer at Sqr One, is a respected voice in the emerging space of Innovation, Human-Centred Design, Service Design, Wellbeing and the Future of Work. Her international roots and multinational experience in Digital Transformation and User Experience have been a vital part of Ale’s 20 years’ experience working across 3 continents.
Now as the Founder and Chief Empathy Officer at Sqr One, Ale is on a mission to eradicate poor education around innovation by bringing her expertise on topics such as Empathy, Service Design, Change Management and Transformation to small and large businesses and organisations.
Over the last few years, Ale has completed several digital, customer experience and employee transformation projects across government and non-government organisations with the objective of increasing customer engagement, acquisition and retention while ensuring employees have a voice in the future of their businesses.
